In this episode we interview crime novelist and filmmaker Tia Ja'nae who recently released a gritty crime novel called Ghosts on the Block Never Sleep from Uncle B. Publications. We discuss the difficulties that independent authors and publishers face when dealing with large conglomerated firms like Amazon, whose platforms were intended to democratize the process of publishing and open the gates to more participation, but have, in fact, led to monopolization and opaque business practices that serve to make the company money, while denying authors and publishers control over their own content.
The discussion is extended to music where we discuss female singers who made music objectionable to the ears of prudish audiences, censors and radio program directors.
